Perhaps you’ve heard a great deal about Tailwind tribes lately.  You’re curious but cautious.  After all, you’d rather light your hair on fire than devote one more minute to another social media or networking group.  I feel you.  I’ve been there.  Before you run screaming for the hills, let me explain what they are and how they help women in business save time and maximize their reach on Pinterest.   Then I’ll recommend the best Tailwind tribes to join for your niche or blog.

First off, Tailwind is a nifty scheduling tool for both Pinterest and Instagram.  The program allows you to schedule the same pin to your own boards, group boards, and tribes.  You can access analytics for your social media accounts and discover shareable content as well.  Their newest feature is a hashtag finder for Instagram.

Tailwind tribes are themed groups of online marketers or bloggers who contribute their pins.  The purpose is, of course, to share each other's content.  I schedule a week's worth of pins (about 120 for me) in under thirty minutes because it's easy and convenient to choose all I want from my fellow tribe members. They, in turn, share my posts.  Who doesn't like a win-win?

I joined 19 tribes within my niche about two weeks ago.  I submitted 7-10 posts to each one over the last 14 days.  Since then I have received 159 re-shares or repins and, according to Tailwind, increased my reach on those pins to 1,062,800.  Whaaaat?  I, of course, had to check my Pinterest analytics too.  The average daily saves from my profile went up by 21.58%.  And the daily views the pins from website got jumped an incredible 141.51%.  Happy dance!

For the time being, tribes are not searchable.  So, it remains difficult to find appropriate Tailwind tribes to join.  Although, I have heard through the grapevine that a search feature will be added in the near future.  In the meantime, I've gathered together this list for you to consider.

What are the best Tailwind tribes to join? Successful women in business have discovered tribes help their content and products get seen more often on Pinterest.

    • Hey, Vikki. Tailwind keeps me from becoming overwhelmed with social media tasks. Now that I have used it for several months, I wouldn’t go back to the way I was handling Pinterest scheduling before. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Serious question what category would my blog fit under. I guess just a general lifestyle? Or millenial perhaps, since I am one? 😉 I always have a hard time finding the Consumer Trends or just #retaillife Niche in blogging.

    • Hmmm, Shop Girl. I took a look at your blog and I can think of several types of groups for you to look for on social media. #1 Shopping, style, and fashion. #2 Frugal living and saving money on retail #3 Online and brick and mortar shop owners #4 General marketing and business These groups will be harder to find, but I think ‘lifestyle’ isn’t specific enough. I hope this helps.

      • Well I don’t shop, or talk about the products themselves so fashion is out. Haha and I’m not a frugal person, I have no tips, so that one is out. I don’t own the shop necessarily but I’d be more than happy to promote a small shop business owner any day! (SERIOUSLY ANY TAKERS!) And general marketing business is where my focus is, but like you said, very difficult to find in the Pinterest community.

I’ll stick to twitter for now!

        • I totally get it, but you have valuable information to share. Don’t give up on Pinterest completely. Yo may have to dig deep, but it could be worth it.

    • Hi, Brenda. I believe you can join Tailwind tribes for free. If I’m not mistaken, you can just pin others tribe members content, rather than schedule the content to pin later. You can also use the link in my post to get a free month of the paid version. That way, you can try it and cancel it if you don’t think it’s worth it or just can’t afford it. Good luck!

  2. So helpful! Thanks so much. I will definitely check this out. My blog is called “Suzy’s Empty Nest Blog” and I write about midlife, regret-proofing, aging gracefully, career malaise and empty nest, from a mindfulness perspective. Excited to see where I fit!

    • Hey, Suzy. I’m glad you found value in this post. Tailwind makes my scheduling so much easier and quicker. Elena Peters has a tribe called ‘Midlife Bloggers.’ If you shoot her an email, I’m sure she would send you an invitation. We midlife bloggers need to help each other out!

  3. I heard about tailwind tribes a couple of days ago for the first time and was wondering how it worked. I also do a Lifestyle blog so I guess I would probably need to join a couple of different ones to get into the right categories. Good to know and I will definitely check it out!

    • Hi, Elizabeth. I find tribes to be much more efficient than Facebook groups for engagement with my content. You just get into Tailwind, do what you need to do within a few minutes, and get back out again. No comments to make or threads to follow. It is my new favorite tool. Check it out. Thanks for stopping by.

    • Hey, Rose. Happy to know you found a couple new tribes to join. They certainly do help your reach on Pinterest. Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.

    • Hi, Haralee. I hope you find several tribes that help you. Thanks for sharing and stopping by. Have a productive week!

    • Hi, Lauren. You are very welcome. I hope you give Tailwind a try because tribes work so much better than Pinterest groups these days. Good luck to you!

    • Hello, Shirley. Tailwind is extremely useful. It gives me more reach on Pinterest and cuts down the time I dedicate to social media. Thanks for your feedback.

    • Hey there, Nadalie. I’m so glad to hear that. I hope it helps you crush it with your business! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Thanks, Jen, I tried to click on the links and they are taking me to the invite page but I do not see them in my purchased Tailwind account under Tribe. Any ideas why?

    • Hmmm, Sabrina. I take it you clicked on the green ‘click to join’ button for each tribe you wanted to join. I just joined one of the craft tribes within my blog post to check if it worked. It did work for me. The tribe shows up ‘your tribes’ section of my Tailwind account. Try refreshing the page to see if that works. Otherwise, I would wait a few hours and check again. If that doesn’t work, contact Tailwind. I hope this helps and your tribes all show up on your Tailwind account soon!

  5. This is great! I recently rejoined Tailwind after not blogging for a couple of years. I just joined several of the tribes you mentioned. How do I use them? When I go to schedule my pins, will they be listed as an option as a board to pin to? Thanks!

    • Hi, Valerie. There is a ‘Tribes’ section on your Tailwind dashboard. Choose a tribe and look through the available pins. Select the pins you want to schedule and which of your boards you want to schedule them to. Tailwind has tutorial videos you can watch. You can also go to YouTube and find instructional videos there as well. Hope this helps.

    • Hey, Alice. Thank you for your feedback. You can use Tailwind tribes for free at this time, but you do need to sign up for Tailwind scheduling. I understand your hesitance though. There are so many great options available to promote and schedule your content. Good luck!

  6. Thank you for sharing this! Pinterest can be such a great resource for inspiration and motivation if you find the right people to follow and groups to join. I will definitely be checking these out!

    • Hi, Jennifer. You’re more than welcome! Pinterest is my #1 or #2 source of traffic, depending on the month. Tailwind tribes have certainly helped me get more exposure to my site. Thank you for sharing.

    • Hello, Rena. I use it every single day. It has helped me so much with my reach on Pinterest. Thanks for sharing.
